Jack Benander, All American Post Commander and Duane Cronn, All American Post Quartermaster received the following certificate at the Department of Kansas Convention banquet on June 13, 2009. “Post 6240 Department of Kansas VFW is awarded this certificate for the outstanding work accomplished in the VFW Programs and Community Service by Post 6240, and therefore being declared an All American Post for 2008 – 2009”.

Jeffrey Vonlehe was selected as the outstanding law enforcement officer of the year by the Russell VFW Post 6240. Jeffrey is employed by the Russell County Sheriff’s Department. He was presented with a framed citation and jacket by Commander Jack Benander at the Russell County Court House on April 13, 2009.

Luray-Lucas 2nd place Patriots Pen winner Kerrick Kuder with his Mother Cindy Brozek, Lucas, KS. Jack Benander, Russell VFW Post Commander, and Rebecca Partridge, President of the Russell VFW Ladies Auxiliary made the award presentation.

Mari Purdy was presented the Citizenship Education Award which honored Purdy as the Russell VFW’s 2008 Teacher of the Year. With Purdy is her husband Larry. Jack Benander, Russell VFW Post Commander, and Rebecca Partridge, President of the Russell VFW Ladies Auxiliary made the award presentation.
