Ladies Auxiliary – Becky Partridge

2012 is here and running as the saying goes. If you haven't turned in your reports yet, please do so right away as they are due. We welcomed Allison Hoffman, daughter of Barry Hoffman as a new member and Rebecca Polcyn and Carol Cronn as Life Members. Our membership is at 97% as of January. We are so close to 100% so if you haven't paid your dues, please do so right away. As of January 1, National dues went up but we voted to leave ours at $17.00. If you know someone who is eligible for the auxiliary please let one of us know so we can visit with them about joining. We made sandwiches for the Blood Mobile on January 18th. Thank you to the ladies who helped make the sandwiches. I just got back from Topeka where we had the VFW State Winter meetings. At the VOD banquet it was announced that the Patriots Pen Winner for the State of Kansas was Terran Homburg and she was sponsored by our Post. Our State VFW Voice of Democracy winner is from 6th District from Beloit, Brady True. Congratulations to both of these young students for a job well done. We will be honoring Terran and the rest of the winners from our Post at our February 1st meeting at 6:30 at the Post. If you haven’t heard the speeches from the students you are in for a treat. We will be making and delivering the Valentine sacks again this year. We do need cookies so if you can bake some thank you in advance. If you know of someone we need to get a sack to let us know right away. We received a report from the hospital and they are in need of lap robes. Joan is going to ask the Lutheran Church ladies if they would make some lap robes for the VA hospital.  Thank you to all of the ladies who have helped so much in so many different ways this year and I hope you will continue to do so in the following year. Come on out on February 1st and meet our VOD and Patriots Pen winners and stay for the meeting and see what we are up to.

Men’s Auxiliary

We are taking orders for Black Berets! The Berets will have the VFW Men’s Auxiliary Patch and will be sold for $25.00. You will need to know your hat size prior to placing your order. For more information contact Tom Batt at 785-324-2263. Come out to the meeting and join in on the discussion! Our regular meeting is the 1st Wednesday of each month starting at 7:30 p.m. We sure would like to see more of our members attend and give us your ideas. The VFW Men’s Auxiliary would like to remind you that your membership dues need to be sent in right away, if you have not already paid them.  Please mail them to P.O. Box 265, Russell, KS 67665. Dues are $25.00 a year and are PAST DUE now. Please pay them as soon as possible so you are not removed from the mailing list.
